Ofala Festival: Ebonyi’s cultural extravaganza of unity and progress

To His Royal Highness, Ọkaji John Chinazom Ụzọigwe, Ntumoke Ugota II of Anioma-Isu Kingdom South East, the maiden Ofala Festival of Isuokoma held on January 2, 2026 symbolised the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The landmark event attracted a mammoth crowd from the ancient clan of Isuokoma, Ebonyi State, and top personalities form home and the Diaspora, as well as traditional and cultural groups.

According to Prince Joseph Nwanze (St. Joseph), the festival held under the chairmanship of Chief (Dr) Donatus Odii Njoku, was a cultural extravaganza.

“The event, which drew political bigwigs, captains of industries, business moguls, arts, entertainment and sports personalities, was organised to celebrate peace, unity and greatness of Anioma-Isu Kingdom in particular and Isuokoma clan in general,” he said.

The dignitaries that attended the Ofala festival included Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and Minister for Works,

Engr. David Nweze Umahi, who were represented. Others were HRM Eze Charles Mkpuma (Eze Burugbala 3 of Ezzama Kingdom), Chairman, Ebonyi State Traditional Rulers’ Council, and royal fathers from the state and beyond.

The event also witnessed the conferment of chieftaincy titles on individuals including Chief Stephen Uchenna Igwe, (Ugo Anyi Ji Ejemba 1 of Anioma-Isu); Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Ikechukwu Ogbofia (Ikuku-Udo 1 of Anioma-Isu); Chairman, Onicha LGA, Chief Felix Ogbonna Igboke (Oku Nyelu Ife); Commissioner for Project Monitoring & Evaluation, Chief Festus Ifesinachi Odii (Ebubedike 1 of Anioma-Isu); and Federal Commissioner, National Assembly Service Commission amongst others.
