The Ngodo-Isuochi community in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State has welcomed the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic, Ngodo-Isuochi, following the official groundbreaking ceremony of its permanent site.
Sulaiman Oduwole, chairman of the Governing Council, commended the stakeholders who contributed to the project’s successful takeoff and expressed optimism about the polytechnic’s future, citing the accreditation of six courses, which include Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Science Laboratory Technology, Statistics, Accountancy, Business Administration and Management by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
“This is just the start of the process. We have a lot of work to do. And I know by God’s grace, by the cooperation of everyone, the community and stakeholders, we will get there. I want to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister for the smooth takeoff of our institution,” he said, adding: “Our sincere appreciation for the success of the groundbreaking of the institution permanent site also goes to the Federal Ministry of Education and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).”
Also speaking at the event, the Rector, Dr. Paul-Darlington Ibemezie Ndubuisi, called on students who sat for the 2024 JAMB examinations and scored 100 and above and had not accepted admission into other institution to initiate admission process into the Polytechnic through the JAMB portal.
He thanked Governor Alex Otti who donated a 500 KVA transformer which he said has been installed. The Governor was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Ikechukwu Monday.
He also commended the leadership and vision of the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Dr. Nkiruka Chukwudubem Onyejiocha, who represented the Umunneochi/Isuikwuato Federal Constituency in the last political dispensation.
The Rector, along with the Registrar, Mrs. Ezenuruihe Ifeyinwa Olachi, were appointed by former President Muhammad Buhari for a single five-year tenure with effect from 17th January, 2023, in line with Federal Polytechnic (Amendment) Act 2019.
