Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and Alex Otti, the party’s only state governor from Abia, have called for a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, April 9.

In a notice signed by both leaders, the NEC meeting will run alongside an interactive Town Hall engagement with key stakeholders and party organs at a venue in the capital.

The invitees include the 2023 vice-presidential candidate, serving and former senators and senatorial candidates from the 2023 election, serving and former House of Representatives members and candidates, all members of the National Caretaker Committee and National Transition Committee (NTC), former gubernatorial candidates still with the party, representatives of the NLC/TUC Political Commission, and members of the former LP National Working Committee.

The meeting follows a Supreme Court ruling last week that terminated the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee.
