The Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Thursday night paid a courtesy visit to former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at his Kano residence.

It was gathered that Kwankwaso used the occasion to introduce the NDC governorship candidate in Kano, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, to Obasanjo.

In a post on his verified X account, Kwankwaso said:  “Last night, I paid a courtesy visit to our esteemed leader, His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, at his residence in Kano. I was accompanied by the former Deputy Governor and our gubernatorial candidate, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.”

Their engagement continued into Friday morning when Kwankwaso led Obasanjo to the Emir’s Palace in Kano for the Turbaning ceremony of Abubakar Mahmoud, a legal practitioner and political ally.

Reacting to the visit, the Spokesman of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Habibu Mohammed, said it did not come as a surprise.

He noted that Kwankwaso served as governor of Kano State when Obasanjo was president of Nigeria, and both leaders have maintained a long-standing principal-mentor relationship over the years.

Dr. Mohammed added that such courtesy visits are normal among senior leaders, stressing that the NDC, under the leadership of its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, and vice presidential candidate, Senator Kwankwaso, remains focused on consolidating its structures nationwide ahead of 2027.
