Fast-rising artiste, Oboghene Ezaga aka Ob, has dropped his debut EP and video for lead single, !go.

A sneak peek of the video reveals a cool, calm, homey and clean vibe that makes viewers feel relaxed. Indeed, its simplicity speaks to Ob’s persona and the mood of the song. “Having such a nice tune to it, !go is a song you put on to relax, unwind and soften up,” he says.

On its part, Ob’s debut EP, !Love, is a body of work that not only soothes the ears but also passes on strong messages. The soul crooner brings his genre-bending rhythms to the 3-track EP, with songs cutting across genres such as hip-hop, Afrobeats and R&B.

According to Ob, the EP is inspired by personal experiences and a lack of self-love over the years. He admonishes: “We need to take care of ourselves. It is something we gloss over so much. Procrastinating fitness, giving the wrong people multiple chances, and remaining in toxic relationships – such as work, friendships, courtships or even marriages – then time runs out and we beat ourselves up even more. This is the reason for the song, !Love. It is as much a correction as it is a hug; it is as much a warning as it is an encouragement. I want people to listen to the songs and feel the need to take it easy.”

With !Love, Ob is set to take his listeners through deep thoughts about topics that arise in every group discussion, personal conversation and written scripts.

The 18-year-old singer/songwriter, who hails from Delta State, started his musical journey at the age of six. In 2021, he made his musical debut with the release of his lead single, !go, which is a ’90s R&B ballad. The EP comprises two other songs, Dang, a daring boom-bap track built upon a classical piano piece, and !yawa, a fun Afrobeat song that makes listeners want to get on their feet.

The new EP and music video hope to give a more lucid picture of who Ob is as an artiste. The musician hopes to leverage these works to not only build a career but also spread love as he journeys through his career.
