NYSC LAGOS STATE COORDINATOR COMMISSIONS SCHOOL PROJECT EXECUTED BY NYSC ROAD SAFETY CLUB MEMBERS IN ISOLO.

 

Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria is saddled with several responsibilities, of which one of it is advocacy especially to the grassroots.
The cardinal focus of this advocacy is tailored towards mitigating against the menace of Road Traffic Crashes (RTC) in Nigeria.

Different platforms are employed to achieve this and one of this is public enlightenment which is mainly done by members of NYSC Road Safety Club, in collaboration with Officers of FRSC.

FRSC operates a three tier mechanism viz Regular Marshals, Special Marshals and the Road Safety Club, which are all encapsulated in the FRSC (Establishment) Act, 2007.

In furtherance of this mandate, the NYSC Road Safety Club members (Batch B), posted to FRSC Isolo Unit Command embarked on the renovation, furnishing and equipping of the library in Ire- Ikare Junior Grammar School, Okota.

While commissioning the project, the NYSC Lagos State Coordinator (Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa) represented by Mrs Stella Nweke; Assistant Director in charge of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) NYSC Lagos, enjoined the Corps members to continue giving back to the society. She appreciated the huge project and challenged the next Batch to do more as this is a worthy example of what the NYSC stands for.

The Area Commander, FRSC RS2.1C1 Badagry, DCC AS Aduloju in his keynote address charged the Corps members to be diligent, dedicated and continue to work tirelessly knowing that their rewards will surely come.

The Coordinator of Special Marshals in Isolo, Mr Ezekiel Emeghebo and the Principal of the School, Mrs Oyesile Oluwakemi both commended the Corps members for the project and enjoined the students of the school to make good use of it.

While answering questions from reporters, the Cadet-In- Chief , NYSC Road Safety Club,Isolo ( Akinniyi Samson Temitope) who led the team that executed the project said they were motivated to do the project having observed that reading culture among students was fast becoming a thing of the past.
He paid tribute to Mrs Abimbola Yewande, the NYSC Lagos State Schedule Officer for FRSC as one with great support system that ensured that they did not give up the project.

While addressing the audience, the Unit Commander, FRSC Isolo, CRC Uko O Uko said the establishment of NYSC Road Safety Club in Isolo was a dream come true. He further opined that the project executed successfully by the Corps members was a valid attestation that they were in the right direction.
He therefore enjoined the school community and guests to make good use of the library while assuring the school that further collaborations with FRSC Isolo Unit Command was in the offing.
