Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, yesterday, swore-in 64 development centre coordinators across the 13 local government areas of the state.

Development centres are sub-divisions of local governments in the state. They were created by the first civilian governor of the state, Sam Egwu, to bring development nearer to the grassroots.

Thirty four of them were created by the Egwu administration while Egwu’s successor, Martin Elechi, increased them to 64.

The last coordinators appointed by former governor, David Umahi, who is now minister of Works, were dissolved last year when his administration was winding up.

Governor Nwifuru, last week, forwarded list of those he appointed the coordinators to the state House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

The coordinators, made up of 13 women and 51 men, were, however, sworn-in at the executive chambers of new government house, centenary city, Abakaliki, the state capital.

Nwifuru urged them to go to the local government areas and bring development to their areas and the state.
