Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has warmly commended the Edo state government for being the best ever hosts of the women football teams.
The Edo state government played host to the 2018 Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier between the Nigerian side, Falconets and their Tanzanian counterparts on Saturday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
Thereafter the government hosted the entire team and visitors to an unprecedented sumptuous state dinner at the government house in Benin City.
The first round World Cup qualifying encounter ended 3-0 in favour of the Nigerians with goals coming off the foot of Lilian Tule in the 22nd minute and mercurial striker, Rasheedat Ajibade who bagged a brace in the 52nd and 57thminute respectively.
The reverse fixture clash will hold in fortnight in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania while the aggregate winners will progress to the second round of Africa’s qualifying series.
The chairperson, Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), Aisha Falode said the state government literally and practically availed the team its high profile personnel and resource to ensure a successful qualifying clash against the East Africans.
