•Apologises to Nigerians
Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has agreed that the Bafana Bafana of South Africa goalkeeper Ronwen Williams deserved the best keeper award, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Many argued that the Nigerian shot-stopper should have been named the tournament’s best goalkeeper but Chippa United said Williams is better.
“Ronwen Williams is a very good goalkeeper, to be honest.
I am competing with this kind of guy and he has the chance to win the best goalkeeper of the tournament, he deserves it”, he said.
Williams has 5 clean sheets compared to Nwabali’s 4 clean sheets in the competition.
Meanwhile, the South Africa based goalkeeper with Chippas FC has apologised to Nigerians about the outcome of the final game.
Despite a strong showing, the Nigerian side suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Elephant of Coted’Ivoire in the match played at the Alassane Quattara stadium.
The Chippa United goaltender apologised to Nigerians through his social media handle and further thanked them for their support.
“A disappointing and frustrating end. I deeply apologise to Nigerians. I was once a fan, still a fan and I understand how it feels giving you a disappointing night.
“We take full responsibility. Thanks for the whole support till the end. I love you all”, he said.
