The festering crisis within the National Union of Road Transport Workers ( NURTW) continued as loyalists of the embattled National President, Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa of the union have described the continued stay in office of Musiliu Ayimde Akinsanya, popularly known as Oluomo as a slap on the judiciary .
Oyo State chairman of the NURTW, comrade Abideen Ejiogbe, while speaking on the crisis, condemned the recent statement credited to so-called Southwest Council Chairmen of the Union, stressing that the people were neither elected or inaugurated into these offices.
He also accused the South West chairmen of the union of defending the undue and unwarranted interference in the affairs of NURTW by a top member of the presidency .
The condemnation was made In a Press release, dated, January 10, captioned; ‘A Call For Justice – Re: Brazen Disregard For The Rule Of Law.
Comrade Ejiogbe, was reacting a an earlier news item ,titled “South-West NURTW chairmen slam Baruwa’ “ credited to the other South West chairmen of the union .
The Oyo NURTW chairman described the statement as “ a veiled attempt to support Musiliu Akinsanya, MC Oluomo, the imposed National Chairman of the Union.”
Ejiogbe ,who spoke on behalf of the Tajudeen Baruwa ‘ s faction of the group said, “We wish to condemn in very strong terms, the recent actions of the so-called southwest council chairmen, who have shamelessly defended the undue and unwarranted interference in the affairs of NURTW”
He continued that, “It is most unfortunate and disgusting to note that some ill- informed persons parading themselves as southwest chairmen are trying to justify the flagrant disregard for the rule of law and the constitution of our union.

“The actions of these illegitimate so called southwest chairmen are a clear indication of their loyalty to personal interests rather than the well-being of our members. “
We must not fail to remind these lawless apologists that they are committing contempt of court.”
He also continued that The NURTW national leadership has consistently maintained that the imposition of MC Oluomo as the union’s leader is illegal and unconstitutional.
We have taken our grievances to the courts, and the judiciary has ruled in our favor.
This is a clear case of undue interference and an attempt to undermine the democratic processes of our union.
“We call on the general public to reject this brazen attempt to hijack our union, while urging our members to remain calm and focused, as we continue to fight for justice and democracy within our union.
“On a final note, we hereby request the chief of staff to kindly leave our union alone in the interest of peace, law and order.”
