The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has appealed to the Osun State government to lift the ban placed on the union in the state.
The union lamented the negative effects of the proscription on its members, just as it called for the intervention of the state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
The acting chairman of the union in the state, Alhaji Kazeem Oyewale made the appeal while speaking at a meeting of the union held in Osogbo, the state capital on Thursday.
It would be recalled that the state government had in November, 2022 proscribed the NURTW in the state following  series of attack on members of the union in many motor parks in the state.
The state government had introduced the Osun State Transport Management System (OSTMS) as an alternative to the NURTW after the proscription of the later.
However, Oyewale said “members of OSTMS and NURTW in the state are brothers of different age groups, religious background and different political affiliations typical of a setting of democratic system. This diversion, we believe should be our pride and strength as a state, rather than causing hatred and fight among brothers”
He said “I have observed of recent, needless attack, harassment, intimidation and threat to lives of our members by some of members of OSTMS in our various motor parks in the state. Some of our members are being ejected from their parks where they make their daily living.
“All these we believe are efforts capable of reenacting bloody war in the state if it is not brought to your attention for immediate intervention as we always do.
“The union members have been profusely shedding tears of pain over the last two years, their children are out of schools,” he added.
