The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), South East zone, has directed its members to join the planned strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on the 17th of this month.
In a statement signed by the Zonal Secretary of the union, Comrade Emmanuel Irem, the NUJ urged members to participate fully in the planned NLC industrial action and to monitor all journalists in their councils to ensure compliance.

“Also, you have to liaise with the NLC in your states for total mobilisation. We shall be waiting to receive reports on your participation in the strike action.
“We hope that all councils will comply with this directive from the National Secretariat of our great Union,” the statement said.
