The Enugu State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has announced the forthcoming induction of the former Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, into its prestigious Hall of Fame.
Governor Ugwuanyi, who served two terms from 2015 to 2023, is being recognised for his notable contributions to the welfare and professional development of journalists in the state.
His administration rehabilitated the NUJ Press Centre, donated a bus to the Correspondents’ Chapel, sponsored journalists on pilgrimage to Jerusalem, and initiated the construction of the NUJ Secretariat in Nsukka.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Council, Obinna Ogbuka, the Union announced that the 2025 Press Week will hold on 4 December 2025 at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.

This year’s theme is: “National unity and good governance: The role of the media.”
The lecture will be delivered by the President of the Senate, Chief Godswill Akpabio, while the event will be chaired by the former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu.
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Benjamin Okezie Kalu, will serve as Special Guest of Honour, with the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, as Chief Host.
The NUJ Press Week is an annual event during which journalists assess the performance of public office-holders and review the Union’s activities for the year.
According to the statement, other distinguished Nigerians who have excelled in their various fields will also be honoured during the celebration.
