Former Directors General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Musa Nuhu and Dr Harold Demuren have confirmed their attendance at the 2026 SAPTCO Annual Lecture, which will examine the implementation of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM).
Capt. Nuhu confirmed his attendance during a telephone conversation on Wednesday, according to a statement by SAPTCO’s managing consultant, Mr Sam Adurogboye.
Nuhu said the quality of participants expected at the event, the guest speaker, whom he described as a sister and the lecture’s theme informed his decision to attend.
Demuren, a former NCAA Director General who delivered the inaugural SAPTCO Annual Lecture last year, also confirmed his attendance as the father of the day. The lecture, scheduled for November 5 will take place at the NCAA Training Suite, Annex, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
It will be delivered by Ms Iyabo Sosina, a former Secretary-General of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), who played a role in the launch of SAATM during her tenure at the continental aviation body.
Adurogboye said the event would bring together leading African aviation stakeholders to examine the slow implementation of SAATM, an initiative designed to liberalise air transport across the continent. The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, will attend as Special Guest of Honour, while the NCAA Director-General, Capt. Chris Najomo, will be the Guest of Honour.
