NUC grants Tansian University full accreditation

Tansian University, Umunya, Anambra State has secured full accreditation in 10 departments after a recent assessment from the National Universities Commission, NUC.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Eugene Nwadialor while making the disclosure during a recent senate meeting of the university recalled  that the National Universities Commission (NUC) visited Tansian University Umunya in January, 2022 for the purpose of reaccreditation of her academic programmes.

He explained that accreditation of degree programmes by the NUC is a system of evaluating academic programmes in Nigerian universities to ensure that they meet the provisions of the Minimum Academic Standard.

He announced that all the 10 undergraduate programmes presented for accreditation were approved by the NUC.

The approved programmes included Departments of Philosophy, Political science, Accountancy, Business Administration,  Economics,  Banking and Finance , Industrial Chemistry,  Biochemistry,  Microbiology and  Computer science.

A  letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor conveying  the accreditation results from the NUC dated 14th April 2022 signed by Dr Maryam Sali, Director of Accreditation on behalf of the Executive Secretary made available to the reporter indicated that the full accreditation granted to the department lasts for a period of five years.

The Vice Chancellor in a further remark said the 100% accreditation by the NUC was a serious sign that the University, named after the first known Nigerian Saint, Michael Iwene Tansi, is solidly on ground and also on the right course.
