…Warns applicants
The Fund says it is not recruiting, warns Nigerians against fake appointment letters and cautions applicants never to pay for employment.
The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has sounded the alarm over fake recruitment advertisements and appointment letters allegedly being circulated by fraudsters to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians, particularly job seekers desperate for employment opportunities.
The Fund, in a public notice issued to its Regional and Branch Managers, warned that individuals and groups were falsely claiming to represent the organisation in recruitment exercises, with some purportedly using social media platforms to lure members of the public.
The warning was contained in a memorandum dated October 5, 2026, signed by the Executive Director, Administration, Samaila Abdu, Esq., in which the Fund raised concerns over the circulation of fraudulent employment information.
According to the notice, NSITF is not currently recruiting for any position, dismissing employment advertisements circulating on social media, particularly Facebook, which purport to have originated from the organisation.
The Fund cautioned Nigerians against falling victim to such advertisements, stressing that the purported vacancies were not authorised by its management.
“NSITF is not currently recruiting for any position,” the Fund stated in the public notice, urging members of the public to disregard misleading claims suggesting that employment opportunities were available within the organisation.
It further warned job seekers against responding to suspicious recruitment messages, submitting sensitive information to unverified contacts or making payments to individuals claiming to facilitate employment with the Fund.
The organisation emphasised that it does not charge any fee for employment, warning that anyone demanding money in exchange for a job offer or appointment letter should be treated with caution.
NSITF also clarified that it does not conduct recruitment through unofficial social media accounts or unauthorised channels, adding that any genuine employment opportunities, whenever available, would be announced through its official communication platforms.

“Stay alert, stay safe,” the Fund urged, advising Nigerians who come across suspicious recruitment advertisements or receive questionable employment offers to refrain from engaging with the senders and report such incidents to the appropriate NSITF authorities.
As part of efforts to prevent further victimisation, the Fund’s management has directed all Regional and Branch Managers to display the public notice prominently in their respective offices to ensure that staff members, visitors and members of the public are adequately informed.
The directive requires the notice to be placed at strategic locations, including reception areas, main entrances and exits, notice boards, SERVICOM desks and other conspicuous points accessible to the public.
According to the Fund, the notice must be displayed immediately and remain visible to serve as a public awareness measure against fraudulent recruitment activities.
The directive is also intended to strengthen public awareness and protect the credibility of NSITF’s recruitment process by ensuring that people seeking information about employment can easily access the warning when visiting its offices.
The development comes against the backdrop of persistent concerns over online recruitment scams targeting unemployed Nigerians with promises of lucrative government jobs in exchange for money, personal information or other benefits.
Such schemes can expose unsuspecting applicants to financial losses and the misuse of their personal information, particularly when fraudsters exploit the names and identities of legitimate public institutions to make their claims appear credible.
NSITF’s latest warning therefore serves as a reminder to job seekers to verify employment announcements directly through official institutional channels before submitting applications, sharing sensitive information or taking any other steps based on purported recruitment offers.
The Fund urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious recruitment activities rather than engage with suspected fraudsters. Job seekers are advised to remember that legitimate NSITF employment opportunities will be communicated through the organisation’s official channels and that no individual or unofficial agent should demand payment for a job.
