NSCDC seeks credible information from FCT artisans

Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Dr Olusola Odumosu, has charged members of the Abuja Artisans and Technicians Forum to improve their intelligence sharing to enhance its operations in the FCT.

Odumosu, gave the charge in Abuja, when he granted audience to some members of the group who paid him a courtesy visit to solicit collaboration.

He observed that artisans and technicians are a reliable group of people to access invaluable information in view of the nature of their jobs and the calibre of people they interface with daily.

“Collaboration with you is the most appropriate thing to do. Your nature and line of business brings you in contact with different kinds of people on a daily basis. As you know, we are a part of you. We live amongst people and so we should be able to relate freely” Odumosu said.

In a statement, the NSCDC boss urged them to be watchdogs of security by timely reporting issues of vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure (CNAI) and other criminal offences in their vicinity as well as educate their members on discipline, integrity and security consciousness .

He reiterated that in view of their membership strength, collaboration and partnership with government security agencies, especially NSCDC, would assist in stemming the tide of insecurity in the state through timeous release of credible intelligence for prompt security intervention, assuring them of utmost confidentiality and safety of the informant.

“Timely information is key to the success of our operations. We are ready to collaborate with you, trusting that you will be our eyes in your various locations to furnish us with useful information that will aid us in our national assignment .

“We recognise that your contribution to the society cannot be undermined and we are poised to partner with you in every area that affects you moving forward”, the commandant assured.

The co-ordinator of the forum, Comrade Bamidele Ojo, lauded the leadership of the FCT Command, for spearheading the ban on scavengers a.k.a baban Bola in the FCT, stating that the action has brought drastic reduction in the vandalism of critical infrastructure and other criminal tendencies in the FCT.

Ojo said the forum has 5000 members with about 15 different groups ranging from carpenters, electricians, welders, tailors, masons, drivers, plumbers, mechanics etc and appealed that the FCT Command give them coverage and support in the course of their businesses. ENDS
