Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has nabbed 14 suspected vandals during the Sallah patrols and surveillance operations at different locations across the length and breath of the capital city .

The arrest was one in a series of arrests made by the men of the command in 24 hours patrol and surveillance in compliance with the directive of the FCT Commandant, Dr Olusola Odumosu, to protect the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) under the corps’ purview.

Speaking on the arrest, the FCT Commandant, Odumosu, expressed disappointment at the devilish and unpatriotic acts perpetrated by the culprits who are so unrepentant despite what the security agencies are doing to sanitise the metropolis.

“ Since these criminals have sworn not to desist from crime, we too are ready to go all out for them. They thought they could use the Sallah festivity to vandalise critical assets of our nation but one thing they forgot was the fact that NSCDC has no holiday; my men patrol the city and its environs 24/7 and the results are inspiring.

“We are not resting on our oars. We are determined, as ever, to protect the assets of government under our purview and we are not reneging on our promise to protect lives and property of the FCT residents and above all government’s essential assets and infrastructure provided for the generality of Nigerians”, Odumosu stated.

He charged those with criminal tendencies in the FCT to relocate at once or be ready to risk being smoked out. He said that those operating one chance, phones and bags snatching businesses in the FCT, are being monitored by the corps’ covert officers and will not hesitate to nab them once sighted.

“ Security is the responsibility of everyone of us. Leaving it in the hands of security agencies alone is not helping at all. All hands must be on deck to end these wanton acts. We all deserve to leave without any form of security threats especially ensuring the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure. That is what I intend to provide for the residents of the FCT.

“ You must all be vigilant. Avoid commuting with unregistered vehicles especially boarding vehicles indiscriminately on the highway. These, of course, will save the people from being victims of kidnapping, one chance and ritual killers” he said

The commandant urged FCT residents to have faith in the security agencies and report any perceived crime or criminal immediately sighted to the nearest security agency.
