The National Sports Commission (NSC) has reshuffled General Secretaries across several National Sports Federations, as part of an internal strategy to strengthen operations and improve performance.
According to a press statement signed by Dr. (Mrs.) Kehinde Ajayi, FCAI, ANIPR, Director, Information & Public Relations, National Sports Commission, the Director General of the NSC, Bukola Olopade, announced the changes at a meeting with the General Secretaries of the federations in Abuja.
He commended the secretaries for their professionalism, commitment and personal sacrifices toward the development of Nigerian sports, and for the support they have given the Commission since the current leadership, led by Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and himself as DG, took office.
Olopade said the reshuffling is meant to further strengthen the administration and operations of the federations in line with the Renewed Hope vision for sports development.
“Let me be clear that no secretary is being removed because he or she has been sacked. They are only being posted to another federation to carry out another assignment. This is how much the Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and I believe in all our secretaries and their professional expertise,” Olopade said.

He added: “I have always said that the secretaries are the lifeline of our sports. They play a very critical role in the fulfillment of our mandate at the NSC to statutorily regulate and develop sports in the country, in line with the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.”
Under the new arrangement Bunmi Oluode is the new Secretary General of the AFN, while Israel Inwang moves to the Padel Federation. The Nigeria Basketball Federation now have Rita Mosindi as the Acting Secretary General, while Amina Amanchi moves to the Rowing Federation. Shooting federation have Tosin Samuel as the new Secretary General and in Karate, Tinuoso Dolapo takes over.
Fencing has Javan Bennard assigned as Secretary General while Arm Wrestling has Dorothy Okpo as the new Secretary General.
The NSC said the reshuffling is part of broader efforts to optimise administrative capacity, deploy professional expertise strategically and strengthen the effectiveness of the national sports federations.
