Nigeria’s Super Falcons and D’Tigress are set to receive their outstanding cash rewards soon, with the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Federal Ministry of Finance confirming the payment process is in its final stage.
According to a statement issued by Dr. (Mrs.) Kehinde Ajayi, FCAI, ANIPR, Director of Information and Public Relations at the NSC, the NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko met with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, to review the status of the payment process for the presidential rewards owed to Nigeria’s Senior Women’s Basketball Team, D’Tigress, and Senior Women’s Football Team, Super Falcons.
The rewards, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, have been under processing at the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation. They recognise both teams’ achievements in 2025 — the Super Falcons’ WAFCON title win in Morocco and the D’Tigress’ successful defence of their Women’s AfroBasket crown in Ivory Coast.

According to the statement, the Minister of Finance confirmed that the ministry has completed payment for the three-bedroom flats in Abuja acquired by the Federal Government and already presented to the players and officials. He added that the cash reward payment process, the next stage of the rewards scheme, would be concluded shortly, with beneficiaries expected to begin receiving alerts from the Central Bank of Nigeria directly into their individual accounts, in line with the President’s directives.
The statement noted that players and officials have already received title documents for the Abuja flats as well as Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) certificates endorsed by the President.
Dikko was quoted as saying the NSC remains committed to ensuring that the presidential rewards and other related commitments are followed through due process to conclusion.
