The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has expressed displeasure over reports of a fracas and alleged physical attacks on supporters during and after the Matchday 20 encounter between Remo Stars and Ikorodu City at the Ikenne Stadium.

In a statement issued by the league’s Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, the NPFL said it was particularly disappointed that the alleged incidents occurred despite a prior reconciliation meeting involving senior officials of both clubs.

According to Owumi, the league has reviewed reports and video evidence relating to the incident and has consequently invited Remo Stars and Ikorodu City to appear before an investigative hearing.

“The NPFL is inviting the two clubs to an investigative hearing on Monday, January 19, at our office in Abuja,” the statement read.

Owumi explained that the hearing is aimed at establishing both the immediate and remote causes of the incident, adding that appropriate sanctions would be applied in line with league regulations to any individual or club found culpable.

If you want it shorter, more dramatic, or tailored for online sports news, I can adjust it.
