Notes on The Nigerian Mafia

By Onyeka Nwelue

I am delighted to share that Jacana Media Publisher, the publisher of my book, The Nigerian Mafia: Johannesburg, the third in the Nigerian Mafia series, has released the book on May 1st, 2024, in South Africa.

The third installment of “The Nigerian Mafia” series, set in Johannesburg, promises to take readers on a thrilling journey through the underworld of crime, deception, and ambition. Acquired by Maggie Davey, the Publishing Director of Jacana Media, South Africa, in August, this novel is set to captivate audiences with its gripping storyline.

The Nigerian Mafia: Johannesburg introduces readers to a cast of characters whose lives intersect in unexpected ways.

Nollywood actor, Uche Mbadiegwu, finds himself entangled in a web of deceit as he escapes from Brazil with the help of a Sierra Leonean diplomat, only to encounter the enigmatic Professor Bern Steyn, a renowned criminologist at the University of Johannesburg.

As Uche navigates Johannesburg, he crosses paths with individuals whose motivations and agendas are as diverse as they are dangerous. From Chinese businesswoman, Huan Lin Zhang, to Pastor Tim Cletus, a self-anointed Nigerian clergyman involved in visa racketeering and trafficking.

The plot of The Nigerian Mafia: Johannesburg takes a look into the murky underworld of criminality, drugs, and violence, exploring themes of power, greed, and the thin line between good and evil. Against the backdrop of Johannesburg›s streets and culture, the novel paints a vivid portrait of a city teetering on the edge of chaos.

With its masterful storytelling and richly drawn characters, The Nigerian Mafia: Johannesburg will offer readers a tantalizing glimpse into a world where alliances are forged and broken, and where survival depends on wit, cunning, and sometimes, sheer luck.
