Nollywood actor Ibrahim Suleiman has opened up about how he and his wife, fellow actor Linda Ejiofor, navigate disagreements in their marriage, revealing that frequent arguments marked their early years together.

On the Mansplanation Podcast, hosted by actor Eso Dike, Suleiman said their personalities fueled the clashes, noting that both he and his wife are first-borns and naturally stubborn.

He recalled that his wife would sometimes kneel to beg during arguments, describing the approach as a form of divine wisdom that consistently worked.

Suleiman also shared an unconventional method he had tried to settle disagreements, recalling advice he received that arguing naked could help end a quarrel.

“Someone told me one time that the best way to end an argument is to argue naked. I have tried it, and it worked,” he said.

Beyond his marriage experience, the actor challenged societal expectations around marriage and parenthood, arguing that not everyone is suited for marriage or willing to raise a family.

He said society often unfairly judges people, particularly women, who remain unmarried or childless at a certain age. At the same time, men who are unmarried in their mid-30s are also subjected to negative assumptions.

“The society we are in just makes it seem like if you are a woman and you are not married with kids at 35, you are a failure. That’s a blatant lie. Unmarried men often face similar scrutiny, with some people assuming that their single status suggests a personal problem or a lack of seriousness,” he stated.

To illustrate his point, Suleiman recounted an attempt to introduce two friends. He said the woman became concerned when she learnt the man was 39 and had never been married or had children.

According to the actor, the woman described the man’s circumstances as a red flag and said she would have preferred a divorced man or a widower.

Suleiman maintained that societal expectations should not determine how people approach marriage and parenthood, stressing that individuals have different preferences and life circumstances.
