The Northwest states are planning to establish electricity plant to boost energy supply to the people of the areas
Director General of Kebbi Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA), Dr. Muhammad Kabir Kamba disclosed this during a press conference with newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.
Kamba also disclosed that the agency since 2023 when it was established,has attracted global investors with the commitment worths about $4.10billion across all sectors.
According to him, ” the agency has continued to position Kebbi as a competitive investment destination and gateway to the West African market through strategic engagements, partnerships and advocacy initiatives.
“These including strengthening partnerships with national institutions such as NIPC,BOI,AFRIEXIM Bank, SMEDAN, among others to align Kebbi State with national and regional investment framework.
“We have successfully hosting the maiden Kebbi investors Forum (KIF) 2026 which attracted global attention and positioned Kebbi State as a credible investment destination.
“The event received investment commitment valued at approximately $4.10 billion USD across key sectors including Mining, Renewable Energy(solar and EV mobility), manufacturing, Agribusiness and Agro-processing,transport and logistic infrastructure “.
Kabir noted that the agency has successfully linked the domestic and foreign investors together, which has resulted to joint ventures and expanded cross- border investment best practices.
While responding to questions on regional collaboration, Kamba disclosed that all the investment promotion agencies in the 7 Northwest states of Nigeria are working hard to establish a joint energy plant that would be serving their people.
He said: “in the Northwest, we have started to have synergy to have a common electricity energy in all the seven states in the Northwest. This will enable us to reduce the risk and there’s the burden.
“We have registered with the CAC and our office is located at the Governor’s Forum Office. We are praying that before the end of this year,we would come up with the blue print on the project”.
Kabir explained that a larger number of investors have been attracted to the state stressed that one company would start assemble electrical vehicles and motorcycles in the state.
He added that Kebbi under the leadership of Gov.Nasir Idris has steadily positioned the state as an investors -friendly destination and a the gateway to other West African nations.
