Northerners in South West begin mobilisation for Tinubu re-election

Arewa communities across the South-West have begun mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

At the weekend, more than 1,000 members of the communities converged on Lagos to publicly declare their backing for Tinubu’s re-election bid and to seek broader support from residents of the region.

The gathering, organised by the South-West Arewa Community for Asiwaju 2027, brought together representatives from Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states.

The group said its mission is to rally northern voters living in the South-West to support the president in the coming polls.

Speaking at the event, the group’s Director-General and Chairman of the Mile 12 International Food Market, Alhaji Sheun Usman, said the mobilisation drive was a recognition of what he described as President Tinubu’s “major investments” in Northern Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He claimed that recent federal interventions in agriculture had led to a reduction in the prices of staple foods, a development he said had not been witnessed in more than 20 years.

Usman also commended Lagos State for maintaining its status as one of the safest states in the country, urging Nigerians to promote peaceful coexistence as a way to curb terrorism and violence in other parts of Nigeria.

The group pledged to deliver more than 10,000 votes for Tinubu in the 2027 election, adding that many of its members were currently registering for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to ensure full participation in the polls.
