Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State and Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has led his colleagues to Katsina State, to pay their last respects to Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari.

Governor Yahaya arrived in Katsina on Tuesday afternoon, ahead of the funeral prayer for the late elder statesman, where he was received by the Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umar Radda, alongside other dignitaries and government officials.

In a statement issued by the Director-General of Press Affairs, Government House Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Governor Yahaya described the late President Buhari as “a true statesman who embodied integrity, selfless leadership, and patriotic service to the nation”.

The NSGF had earlier described the death of the former president as national tragedy, adding that Buhari’s legacy would remain a guiding light for current and future leaders, particularly in upholding discipline, patriotism, and national service.

The former president’s was announced by his family on Sunday and is being laid to rest today (Tuesday) in his hometown, Daura, in accordance with Islamic rites.
