Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, a veteran actress and producer, has called for structural improvements in Nigeria’s film industry, also known as Nollywood.

The actress, who has over 30 years of experience in the Nigerian film business, made the call on Saturday via a viral Instagram post.

While comparing her experiences in Hollywood and Nollywood, Omotola found variations in royalties between the two sectors.

She expressed displeasure over what actors faced in the nation’s industry with absence of residual payments.

In Hollywood, according to her, she has been receiving residual payments monthly for just two projects she completed within four years.

“Just four years in Hollywood. Two test projects, monthly residuals,” she said.

While sharing an envelope received from SAG-AFTRA, an American union for films and media professionals, the actress said whereas, in “30years in Nollywood, with over 310 projects, no residuals. #NollywoodNeedsStructure and #UnlearntoRelearn”.
