Noise pollution: Lagos seals 11 hotels, bars, others in Ikorodu

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed off 11 establishments in Ikorodu area of the state for repeated noise pollution and other environmental infractions.

The agency disclosed this in a statement shared on X on Thursday.

LASEPA disclosed that the establishments were sealed in an enforcement operation, which took place on Wednesday, October 15, and covered key areas such as Agodo Gas Line, Odogunyan Industrial Layout, lta Oluwo Junction, Haruna, lpakodo Road, and Ebute.

The facilities affected included hotels, lounges, bars, and industries found guilty of breaching environmental standards.

They are Zero Square Bar & Lounge, Starex Poly, Oloruntele Poly, Limpex Resources, Skipper Nigeria Ltd, Star Rain Nigeria Limited and NDO Hotel & Suites.

Others are Embassy Lounge, Beechwood Guest House, Obas Hotel & Suitesa and A-Star Pencil.

Speaking during the operation, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to maintaining environmental integrity across the state. He noted that the action was necessary to safeguard public health and restore sanity to affected communities.

“Noise pollution and other environmental abuses threaten the quality of life and well-being of our people. Today’s enforcement exercise demonstrates our resolve to uphold the state’s environmental standards and promote a cleaner, healthier Lagos,” Ajayi stated.

He appealed to residents and business operators to comply with environmental regulations, stressing that LASEPA will continue its zero-tolerance stance against all forms of environmental degradation.
