The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has congratulated President of the Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF), Mrs. Olabisi Temitope Joseph, on her historic election as President of the International School Sport Federation (ISF) Africa.
Mrs. Joseph was elected during the 2026 ISF General Assembly held in Belgrade, Serbia, on July 21, with delegates from 82 countries in attendance. A total of 79 votes were cast during the election.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the NOC Public Relations Officer, Tony Nezianya, NOC President Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel described Joseph’s victory as well deserved, noting that it reflected her years of dedication and hard work in the development of school sports.
Gumel said the election marked a significant milestone not only for Joseph but also for Nigeria and the African sporting community.

With her emergence, Mrs. Joseph becomes the first female from Africa and the first woman in the history of the International School Sport Federation to occupy the prestigious position of ISF Africa President.
The NOC President said the achievement further underscores Nigeria’s growing leadership and influence in the development of school sports across Africa and the global sporting landscape.
“On behalf of the Olympic Movement in Nigeria, I congratulate her on this well-deserved success at the polls. We wish her a memorable and successful tenure,” Gumel said.
Joseph’s election is widely seen as another boost for Nigeria’s profile in international sports administration and a major step forward for the advancement of school sports on the African continent.
