Says Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere initiated Ideato erosion control, bridge projects

A former member who represented Ideato Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Rufus Omeire, has disclosed that there has never been zoning for the Ideato Federal Constituency, saying candidates should go and convince the people to vote for them instead of relying on a non-existent zoning formula.

Hon. Omeire, who is the senatorial candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in the January 16 National Assembly and presidential polls, stated in a press statement on Wednesday that there is no issue of zoning in the Ideato Federal Constituency and that Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu is not a product of zoning but of the people of Ideato, who overwhelmingly chose him as their representative in 2023 and are backing him again in 2027.

“Let me speak on the issue of zoning as someone who is involved, Ideato has never had zoning for House of Representatives. Therefore, let’s stop talking about what doesn’t exist. The candidates should go and convince the people of ideato to vote for them instead of trying to rely on something that doesn’t exist.

Continuing, “Ikenga Ugochinyere was not a product of what doesn’t exist, but a political creation of the people of Ideato who voted massively across party lines, LGA, and again they are ready to do it again. I heard some funny guys whose allowances have not been paid gathered to talk about me, the APP Senatorial candidate, and Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the people’s messenger/Ideato Rep, on a bridge that Ikenga single-handedly convinced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to approve 26 billion naira for work to start before the state government wrote to the Ministry of Works to allow them to take over. The state government, on its own, has not started any project in Ideato that it has completed apart from this one, which it took over from the Federal Government. Until they start the Amanator Isiekenesi Dikenafai Road and finish it, nobody can say they have done anything for us.”

This act of these roadside clowns to launch a kindergarten attack against a passionate messenger that his people overlove is very childish, and they are only ridiculing themselves in an attempt to get attention. This desperate show of shame was only an act to beg for the extension of their tenure, which has already expired.

He maintained, “Ikenga is not a product of zoning. He is a product of our people’s decision to elect a messenger they have confidence in, even while he was in exile. We don’t have zoning, and he can’t be a product of what does not exist. His closest challenger, who was the incumbent, was from Ideato South, went even up to the court, and Ikenga defeated him.

I am from Ideato South. There was no zoning, and I also tried to seek a second term because there was no such thing anywhere. Hon. Austin Chukwukere took over from Hon. Mbadigwe, both from Ideato North. The people love Ikenga because he is a light and a messenger who will one day host the Ideato flag at the centre of national and international politics, and we can’t exchange an exceptional, young, courageous leader for those who have failed at everything they’ve done in their lives. We can’t exchange a robust, over-active, high-capacity young man with any new beginner. Let me also say it here that we are short-changing ourselves in this quest to always change our reps after one tenure. We can never achieve any meaningful development from the Federal like this. We have finally gotten it right with Ikenga so he should continue the wonderful work he is doing,” Omeire stated.
