The Lagos State Government declared on Wednesday that it has not reintroduced monthly environmental sanitation and would not impose any mobility restrictions by July.
Tokunbo Wahab, the Environment and Water Resources Commissioner indicated that the report’s authors are mischief makers who want to confuse citizens.
This was contained in a statement by the ministry’s Director of Public Affairs, Kunle Adeshina, where it was also disclosed that there were no plans to introduce the sanitation exercise in July.
Wahab asked all citizens to dismiss the content of the viral fake news and go about their legitimate business, adding that there would be no restrictions on mobility on the final Saturday of July, as incorrectly stated in the fake news.

The commissioner said that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu declared on Sunday, during a sanitation sensitization session at Campos playground on Lagos Island, that the state will begin a weekly community-based sensitization and awareness exercise involving all citizens.
“The governor also stated that State Government officials will lead from the front every week by going round to join residents in voluntarily cleaning their environment while preaching the message,” he said.
Wahab said that the governor made no announcement that the monthly exercise and limitation will begin in July.
The commissioner asked all citizens to adopt the habit of cleaning their surroundings regularly rather than waiting for the government to proclaim a specific month for sanitation or mobility restrictions.
