No hiding place for contractors as Anambra deploys digital project tracker

Anambra State is stepping up efforts to improve accountability in public works with a new digital platform designed to track government projects, monitor contractors and follow official documents from start to finish.

The platform, known as DocTracker, was developed by the Anambra State ICT Agency for the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to strengthen project supervision, improve administrative efficiency and provide better oversight of government activities.

The initiative comes amid growing calls for greater transparency in public spending and effective monitoring of infrastructure projects to ensure that contractors deliver according to agreed specifications and timelines.

DocTracker has two major components: Document Management and Project and Contractor Management.

The document management component enables government officials to monitor the movement and status of official documents throughout their lifecycle, while the project management component provides tools for tracking construction projects, contractors, field activities, project locations and implementation progress.

The system is expected to give relevant government officials better access to project information and make it easier to follow developments across different project sites.

The ICT Agency said the platform had undergone reviews, with feedback from officials of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure helping to identify areas for improvement before its planned launch.

The review was led by the ministry’s Commissioner, Arc. Okey Ezeobi, while the agency’s core technology team is expected to incorporate the feedback into the platform.

Beyond infrastructure monitoring, the state is also expanding its use of digital technology to improve communication between government and residents.

As part of this effort, the ICT Agency has commenced engagements with the Ministry of Information and Value Reformation on SolutionLens, the state’s citizen-engagement platform.

The engagement followed a working visit by the Information and Value Reformation Commissioner and his team to the agency on October 8, 2026.

During the visit, the ministry’s information officers received practical training on the platform, including how it can be used to facilitate engagement with residents and gather public feedback.

The exercise also covered the onboarding of officials with their official government email addresses and a demonstration of the redesigned Anambra State Government website.

The agency said the engagement was aimed at strengthening the ministry’s capacity to use digital tools to improve public communication, promote citizen participation and make government information more accessible.

In another initiative, the agency has launched INSIDE, a behind-the-scenes video series intended to showcase the people, technology and innovations driving the state’s digital transformation.

The series will air every two weeks on the Ministry of Information and Value Reformation’s social media platforms, offering residents a closer look at technology projects and the people working to advance digital development in the state.

The agency also urged residents to explore the redesigned state government website, which provides access to official information and digital services.

Together, the initiatives signal Anambra’s broader push to use technology to strengthen public administration, improve oversight of government activities and build more effective channels for communication between the government and citizens.

However, the impact of DocTracker on project delivery and accountability will ultimately depend on how consistently it is used, the quality of information entered into the system and whether project updates are acted upon by the relevant authorities.
