The Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service, (NIS) Lagos State Command, Aliyu Akadri has warned criminals trying to flee the country not to dare the service as there won’t be escape route for them as the service is fully prepared for them.
Akadri, gave the warning during a visit to Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, Olohundare Jimoh yesterday at command headquaters, Ikeja.
According to him, the Federal Government has provided the NIS with sophisticatedu gadgets and equipment to monitor any movement.
“Once we get an order from the court that a criminal is wanted or they are looking for a person, we remain at alert.
“The government has assisted us in so many ways by making our job very easy, there is no way a criminal can sneak out of the country now that we have acquired some new systems.
“Any criminal that has a mind of fleeing the country should better have a rethink because he will surely be apprehended, even If he or she takes illegal route, “ he said.
He said that the purpose of his visit was to enjoy a kind of cooperation his predecessor had been enjoying before he retired.
“We need the cooperation of each other and we need the collaboration, you cannot underestimate anybody.
“If there’s any intelligence report we gather from ourselves, I can easily send it to my brother. If there’s anything that you can assist us to, at least my brother can call me.

“We are still just working for the same goal. The goal is to protect Nigeria, “ he said.
Responding, the commissioner said that the immigration and the police had been working together for a long time.
“I want to equally assure you that during your own time, we are going to strengthen that cordial working relationship to take it to a higher level to ensure that we achieve the objective for which the government has set us up and to equally ensure that our policy of government, our programme of government are fully implemented.
“That has to do with internal security. Working together, we are going to push coordination between us at the centre stage to ensure that the people of Lagos, and visitors alike enjoy the best of security cooperation between the two agencies.
“We are on the same page as foot soldiers to work together in a collaborative manner.
“The police will collaborate with you, So there is not going to be anything different. Anything that you are going to see that will be different is improvement in what we have on the ground. So you are welcome to my command.
“I want to assure you that your turn of duty here will be very, very successful, building on the existing cordial relationship that we have been enjoying with each other, “ he said.
He said that the synergy between the two agencies was to also work together in the area of ensuring safety and security across Lagos state.
“ The synergy will be trickle down to the lover level.It’s equally of note to say that even at the lower level, because we don’t have problems mostly at the off-site level, that we allow this to transcend down to the off-site and lower level to know that we are on the same page and the need for them to, as full soldiers, to work together in a collaborative manner.
“ You were part of us and you even left with our uniform and since then, we have been working in synergy. It will not end in my time “.
