The Nigerian Navy Secondary School, NNSS Calabar, has marked two decades of academic excellence with a grand passing-out parade for the class of 2026, and a tribute to the institution’s founding vision.
Commandant Navy Captain Muhammad Nura Dahalatu described the milestone as historic, noting that 20 years after its establishment, the school has produced thousands of alumni making meaningful contributions in professions within and outside Nigeria.
“Our mission has always been to produce young men and women who are academically excellent, morally upright, physically fit and committed to national service,” Dahalatu said.
“Twenty years later, that vision has blossomed into a legacy of outstanding performance and exemplary character.”
He praised the discipline and academic accomplishments of the graduating cadets, saying their parade reflected six years of dedication, resilience and military training.
In a special recognition, the school honoured its pioneer Commandant, retired Commodore Amatre Kpou, who was the Special Guest of Honour, for laying the foundation upon which the institution has grown.
Charging the Class of 2026, Dahalatu urged them to carry the values of discipline, integrity, responsibility, courage and patriotism into higher institutions and national life.
The Commandant, who noted this was his final official assignment at NNSS Calabar, also appreciated the Chief of Naval Staff, Naval Headquarters, the Eastern Naval Command, the Cross River State Government, and the Akpabuyo Community for their sustained support.
Highlights of the event included a ceremonial parade, presentation of awards to outstanding cadets, and anniversary activities commemorating the school’s 20 years of existence.
