The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has declared that it will pursue both diplomatic and legal avenues to challenge proposed sanctions by the United States against its national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The declaration was made by Folashade Aliu, 2023 NNPP campaign secretary, during an interview on Friday on Channels TV.

Aliu described the proposed US action as unjust and stressed that the party is committed to defending Kwankwaso’s rights and reputation.

“We will look at the diplomatic approach, we will look at the legal approach,” she said, while responding to questions about how the NNPP plans to confront the proposed sanctions.

She added that those behind the bill “do not really know much about Kwankwaso” because they are not from Nigeria

“We will start from Nigeria because the congressmen who are sponsoring the bill are not from Nigeria.”

“If they do their investigation right, they will realize that this poerson doesn not align in any form or shape with these other entities that cluster him with.

“I believe we are going to apply the diplomatic approach first and see how far we can go with that, then we go back to the drawing table and see what next to do,” she concluded.
