NMMAF releases MMA guidelines for National Sports Festival in Enugu

The Nigeria Mixed Martial Arts Federation (NMMAF) has issued its guidelines for MMA participation at the National Sports Festival in Enugu, urging states to use the attached circular to prepare their athletes and teams.

The federation stressed that competition is strictly for eligible amateur athletes.

Attendance at the workshop and grading exercise in Enugu is compulsory, and no athlete will be cleared to compete without it. Both are free, but the Budo Passport and affiliation requirements are separate.

Each state MMA team must be led by an NMMAF-certified MMA coach. Anyone currently serving as a kickboxing coach is not eligible to lead or coordinate a state MMA team at the Festival.

States are also advised to check the equipment requirements in the circular and contact the NMMAF Secretariat directly for payment instructions.

The federation described MMA’s inclusion in the National Sports Commission’s National Sports Festival as a significant step for the sport.

“As Nigeria’s member federation of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF), our job is to make sure every team arrives prepared and the competition is run to clear standards,” the federation said.
