NLO: E-World United crowned Calabar champions

E-World United FC of Calabar are the Calabar centre champions of the just-concluded Nationwide League One [NLO] playoffs after a 2-0 win over fellow Calabar side Mojoda FC on match day five at the U.J. Esuene Stadium.

Jude Ayibe opened the scoring in the 24th minute, before Uwem Akpan doubled the lead in the 35th minute to seal the win and the title for E-World United.

Speaking after the match, captain Patrick Kayang said the team’s success came down to hard work, fair play, and discipline.

“The secret of our success is hard work, fair play and discipline,” Kayang said.

He added that the team is confident heading into the next NLO game against their Akwa Ibom opponents in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, later this month.

In the earlier game at the same venue, Liberty Lions of Calabar edged Diamond Stars 1-0.

With the win, E-World United top the Calabar centre standings with 8 points from four matches. Prince Seven FC sit second on 7 points, followed by Mojoda FC with 6 points. Liberty Lions are fourth with 4 points, while Diamond Stars round out the table with 3 points.
