More than 40 journalists from different media organisations have been trained on digital storytelling and emerging media technologies at a three-day workshop in Lagos.
The training, organised by Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG), focused on equipping media professionals with modern digital tools required to navigate the rapidly evolving media landscape driven by artificial intelligence, data journalism and digital communication.
Participants at the second edition of the programme tagged, “Change your story 2026,” received hands-on training on innovative storytelling techniques, audience engagement and the use of digital platforms to enhance reporting and expand audience reach.
NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Sophia Horsfall, described the workshop as part of the company’s broader commitment to strengthening engagement with the media while promoting professional excellence in journalism.
According to her, the initiative underscores NLNG’s belief that accurate and well-informed reporting plays a critical role in shaping public understanding of key sectors such as energy, economic development and sustainability.
“NLNG Limited views this engagement as a strategic partnership. We provide the energy that powers nations and generates revenue for our nation; you provide the information that powers our minds,” she said.

Horsfall urged participants to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop in their future reports and investigative stories, noting that the company expects to see improved standards in media coverage.
The training programme, organised in partnership with The Journalism Clinic, was designed to strengthen professional capacity among journalists and encourage the adoption of new innovations in digital storytelling.
Bearing in mind the words of Canadian philosopher and media theorist, Marshall McLuhan, who said: “With time, the internet would make the world become a global village,” media communication specialist, Dan Mason facilitated sessions on storytelling techniques and the use of digital platforms to enhance audience engagement.W
Founder of The Journalism Clinic, Taiwo Obe, disclosed that since the inception of the “Change Your Story” initiative, about 400 journalists have been trained in digital communication and social media skills aimed at improving the quality of media reporting in Nigeria.
He added that the programme seeks to prepare journalists for the demands of a digital-driven media environment.
The workshop concluded with participants gaining practical insights on building strong digital presence and adapting to emerging trends in the evolving media ecosystem.
