NISO begins construction of new control room in Osogbo

As part of moves to improve electricity nationwide, the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has commenced the construction of a new National Control Room at the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo, Osun State.

In a statement, it was confirmed that the construction project site has recently been handed over to Messrs FBS Construction Engineering Services Limited.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NISO, Engineer Abdu Bello Mohammed, charged the contractors to maintain high standards, stressing the need for collaboration, professionalism, and strict adherence to safety and quality requirements.

Mohammed charged the NCC management with ensuring proper supervision and co-ordination, expressing confidence that the project would be completed on schedule.

On her part, the Executive Director for System Operations, Engineer Nafisatu Asabe Ali, described the NCC as a critical national asset, vital to both national security and economic development. She reaffirmed NISO’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that will enhance grid stability and reliability across the country.

According to her, the site handover represents more than a procedural milestone; it is a renewed commitment to executing the project with clarity, purpose, and efficiency. She expressed confidence in the capacity of both the contractor and the NISO teams to deliver successfully.

Also speaking, the Executive Director for Finance and Corporate Services, Mr Babajide Ibironke, called on the contractor to approach the project with a strong sense of national responsibility. He noted that the initiative is pivotal to improving electricity stability nationwide.
