The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has cautioned Nigerians and foreign nationals to beware of fake websites and fraudsters posing as its official online platforms, urging applicants to use only authorised channels for passport, visa and other immigration services.
The warning was issued on Thursday through the service’s official social media platforms in Abuja, where the NIS said the advisory became necessary following the activities of scammers exploiting unsuspecting individuals seeking immigration-related services.
According to the service, applicants should access passport services only through its designated official passport portal, while separate authorised platforms exist for visa applications submitted through Nigerian embassies, electronic visas (e-Visa), Temporary Work Permits (TWP) and the Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card (eCERPAC).
The NIS advised members of the public to avoid dealing with unauthorised websites or individuals claiming to represent the agency or offering to facilitate its services.

It stressed that using only official online platforms would help applicants avoid financial fraud and protect their personal information from being compromised.
The service also reminded the public that its Contactless Passport Application Mobile App is available for download on both the Apple iOS App Store and the Google Play Store, providing a secure and convenient option for passport processing.
Reaffirming its commitment to secure and efficient digital service delivery, the NIS urged applicants to verify the authenticity of any website before making payments or submitting personal details.
It added that only information published through its official communication channels should be trusted and encouraged the public to report suspicious websites, fake platforms or other fraudulent activities related to immigration services to the appropriate authorities.
