Barrister Solomon Dalung has again broken another sports jinx after the National Institute for Sports NIS held its 7th Convocation for students who graduated from 2005 to 2018.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development who was the special guest at the graduation ceremony of 1,500 coaches and Sports administrators expressed delight that after 14 years of waiting, the ceremony eventually took place under his watch.

“Today is another milestone in our efforts to revive the sports traditions in Nigeria. We had revived the National Sports Festival after six years in the doldrums and today we had the Convocation of the National Institute for Sports after 14 years. For me, it is a thing of joy especially sharing the joy of the grandaunts, some of whom had graduated over 14 years ago, waiting helplessly for this day.

“I congratulate all the grandaunts, Governing Council and the Management of the NÍS and all those who made this historic event a reality.”

This event becomes a second addition to virtually moribund programs within the system of the Ministry resuscitated during my tenure with the first being the National Sports Festival.
