The African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) has commended the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) for guiding the country’s U18 boys’ team to a historic continental title at the 2026 African Nations Volleyball Championship in Alexandria, Egypt.
In a congratulatory letter dated July 30, 2026, CAVB President and FIVB Executive Vice-President, Mrs. Bouchra Hajji, praised the federation, led by President Engineer Musa Maniyunda Nimrod, for steering the young Nigerian side to the African crown.
Hajji described the triumph as a reflection of the federation’s discipline, dedication and sustained investment in youth development, calling it a remarkable feat in a highly competitive tournament.
She extended her congratulations to the federation’s leadership and Board of Administration, as well as the technical crew, support staff and players, whose performances secured the title.
The CAVB president noted that the success underscores the strength of Nigeria’s youth development programme and its long-term vision for growing the sport nationally.
She added that Nigeria’s continued investment in young athletes was setting an example for the rest of Africa and contributing to volleyball’s growth across the continent.
Hajji urged the federation to build on the achievement, expressing confidence the current crop of players would go on to greater success at both continental and international levels. She closed by wishing the NVBF continued success and expressing hope that the new champions would inspire the next generation of African volleyball stars.
