Nigeria’s first digital poultry investment platform, epoultry.ng has been selected for the Deutsche Gesellschaft for Internationale Zusammenabiet (GIZ) Scaling Digital Agriculture Innovations through Startups (SIAS) programme.
Its founder, Anthony Owei was in 2021 selected Westerwelle Young Founders programme also in Germany.
(SAIS) is a project implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The online platform happens to be one of the 18 selected platforms selected annually to participate in the nine-month Investment Readiness Programme which is fully funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The Investment Readiness Programme offers weekly advisory and coaching sessions to participants as well as access to the GIZ-SAIS network.
One of the aim of the programme is to create hub integration for its participants and also support more African start-ups in improving their business models through gaining access to investors and business partners, as well as achieving greater impact.
Registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission as Takvor Resources, and trading under the name ePoultry.ng, the digital platform leverages on technology to provide funding, technical skills and access to market for smallholder poultry farmers.
It also gives middle income earners access to grow their income via remotely investing in poultry farming without directly operating the farm.
Using a web and mobile app, ePoultry.ng mobilizes funding for agriculture, specifically poultry farming, from the hands of those who have it (farm sponsors)to the hands of those who need it (smallholder farmers).
On one hand, epoultry.ng gives farm sponsors or investors access to grow their money via remotely investing in poultry farming without directly farming themselves. It is on this basis, the Deutsche Gesellschaft for Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) selected ePoultry.ng to be part of the Investment Readiness Programme.
