Nigeria earned her first 4x400m men’s record for the year 2023 over the weekend at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Invitational in Baton Rouge, USA.
The quartet of Samson Nathaniel and Ezekiel Nathaniel, Sikiru Adeyemi and Chidi Okezie raced to a Season’s Best (SB) of 3:05.42 to finish in 2nd place.
Samson Nathaniel anchored the race for Team Nigeria, coming in 4th place behind Georgia, Arkansas and LSU at the first hand-off to his brother Ezekiel.
The younger Nathaniel had a race in his leg having won the 400mH moments before he clawed his way up to 2nd place with a 45.99 split.
Adeyemi and Okezie further consolidated their performances as Team Nigeria bested the tape with a time of 3:05.42, behind the Georgia team who managed to steer clear to win in 3:04.57.
Meanwhile Godson Brume earned his second win on the trot in the men’s 100m at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, clocking a time of 10.01s (3.3) in wet conditions. Ezekiel Nathaniel displayed a brilliant performance @ the LSU Invitational, racing to a time of 49.47s to win the men’s 400m hurdles.
