“Now in Nigeria, social media has helped in exposing and nurturing talents and has been one of the major sources through which millions of Nigerians earn a living.

Paschal stated that despite the many positive contributions of social media, the innovation has heralded some obnoxious trends that tend to negate our moral disposition as a people. For instance, the disturbing issue of nudity on social media platforms.

He said that some years ago, in Nigeria, it was a taboo for young people, either a lady or man to wear clothes that expose sensitive parts of their body. Such an act was frowned upon and penalized as well.

But today, the reverse seems to be the case as people don’t only publicly expose their body, they now use the social media that has billions of users worldwide to expose sensitive parts of their body.

The media personality is popularly known as Paschalito Omo Ologo and the fourth of five children.

Narrating his journey into the media space, he stated: ” I ventured into broadcasting and took various professional courses like basic Production, basic Presentation, intermediate presentation at the Radio Nigeria Broadcast Academy after having a brief with media personalities and celebrities like Pete Edochie

Furthermore, he also got his grade five practical examinations (Voice) from MUSON with a distinction. The media professional encompasses being a TV host, Radio Host, Compere, Hypeman, actor, and classical Singer. “Every generation has its own beacons of hope for various sectors. Sometimes we celebrate the previous generation so much that we fail to see the new crop of light bearers holding up the torch for their generation and the next.

He opened up on the early days of his career at Continental Radio now Max FM,where his experience shaped his life as well as prepare the ground for his success story today.

The 28-year-old said as a young person, you need to create and carve a niche market, for yourself where you can excel. I got a lot of resistance but I was determined. I was embarrassed, rejected but I kept improving and equally apologize when I have not committed any crime. Some people decided to be overbearing and by the grace of God I was able to surmount the pressure,it eventually became a motivation for me to achieve my goals.

“Being a media personality in Africa is not without its challenges. In many parts of the continent, there are significant hazard and barriers at the point of entry into the field of journalism, including limited access to education and training, cultural biases and stereotypes, especially when you are a green horn. the threat of violence and harassment, are some of the challenges faced though there are glitz and glam associated with the job.

“When I started my career, I didn’t get the encouragement needed, despite the challenge I braced up and became a success.
It was not an easy task,as my journey into the media industry came with a lot of challenges. It got to a point where I was so discouraged that I thought someone was after my progress. I was not getting the platform, I started having negative thought as if something was wrong with me, maybe there was a force preventing my success.
I actually felt there was an ill fate syndrome in my gene.
it was not rosy at all, getting to this place, but God’s grace gave it to me. I had a rough start, It took me so much to get a platform, I remember when I had an audition and I thought I would be given the job as a male host, despite the green light but it was given to someone else, a female. This became a huge challenge for me and I swung into action.

“Penetrating into the media space is actually problematic, getting a platform as a male host takes a lot more. I was able to gain access into the media space after several attempt and my persistence.. Most station prefer the females host,so as a male host you must have a unique features that can give you the leverage.

“As a male host before you can get to the top it’s actually challenging. It’s extremely difficult that why I am called Pascalito Omologo. Any male host who had gotten this far, is actually extra- ordinary. I started from radio, I decided to be original, creative I carved a niche for myself.I got into the trenches, the street, and urban to deliver my unique styles as long as I can captivate my audience or listeners. My fans loves me actually I can connect with the street language that is one of the skills that made me.

“Apart from being an extra ordinary cute man. There is something about this on air personality, the personality in you comes out properly once people love your personality, you become their sweet heart,a voice they constantly want to hear.

“I am a simple easy going, talented and intelligent broadcaster. I have been able to develop my skills and annex my talent. I am into different things, that includes acting, music among others.

He urged the younger generation not to give in to discouragement when the need arise. To make headway in life comes with different hurdles and at every stage you must learn to overcome it and never give up on your goals. Moreso, he stressed rejection must come as an on air personality. You even want to quit but you must keep pushing, room was not built a day.

When you are doing a media training you must go for internship.I had a two weeks internship.at Continental Radio, it was the most frustrating period I had in life. As the station manager then was frustrating my effort. He did not like my face, he actually did everything to discourage me from pursuing this career. He even told me that there was over 30 radio station in Lagos I can go to another one apart from this one, where I was currently having the training. But I didn’t let it break or get to me, because I was focus. I apologized to him,I knelt down I stoop to conquer, because I was ambitious. I kept being futuristic and focus on my goal. Although I was broken at 19,they gave me so much stress that I was told not to even come around.
At some point I was prohibited, out of bound for me at the station. I had to go and beg without doing anything. I had to apologize because I needed to get the training.
The negative stressor was high but it encouraged me and I braced up. I became determined that I must be great in the media industry. There are other issues I experience as a teenager that I became discouraged but somehow I picked up the pieces and refired.

Speaking further, the media personality revealed why he enjoyed a good relationship with the intern working presently under him.I mentor them. I wants to give them the opportunity to excel and not frustrate their efforts.
Most young people don’t really understand the need to serve. They don’t know you must serve before you are served. I have a lot of intern and they don’t understand these challenges probably due to the technology available and guidance available to them.

” I serve under some notable media personalities like Yomi Kazeem ,Debo,, Wale Popo, you must be knowledgeable enough to handle any issues, know your onions as for the male. While the female should work hard, I have been with many broadcaster, even at Nigeria Broadcasting Academy. In the media profession you must be more pragmatic with the knowledge you have because, you can excel on merit.

“Most youths do not want to suffer, they want to make it big, without working they have refused to do any meaningful thing, especially with the betting naija platform. The game basically is to assist you financially,it’s a game plan.My believe is for them to bet with a sense of responsibility. Bet rightly and responsibly, you don’t need to be obsessed with it. It helps to double your source, I can’t write anyone off who engaged in betting because some people used it to cater for their family, but it should be done with a sense of responsibility.

It’s the advent of content creation and this content has become the comedy show a lame man can’t afford but gets entertained from their comfort zones without stress.

Lagosians are angry at the moment. There is so much stress. The stress in the streets is alarming. The negative stress is taking care of by the positive stress. The idea of extreme prank can cause death, people should not be extreme with prank because of people’s health condition. You don’t know if the person is hypertensive. There should be moderation.

“Nigeria need to emulate first world nation by taking the technology aspects of space science rather than propagate nude and naked girls that trends on social media.
Nigerians should use social media to promote science not nudity. If you open any app, what you see is indecent and immortal act, this has taken over our online space. No more morals.

Once you open this apps you get to see nude picture of women’s sensitive organs. This should not be the order of the day.The first and third world nation has a dichotomy while the first world nations are making use of technology and science in their space,we are flooding the internet with nudity. Let’s take a leap from China, Chinese uses their ” Tik talk space more for science. While Nigerian media space is focusing more now on naked girls and it is trending on the internet.
.
The image of the nation and our cultural beliefs is fading out. If we want it to grow,we need to incorporate science into the media space like what China is doing, dragging everybody into innovative technology, rocket space and science.
