Nigerians in diaspora tasked on peace, unity

The Nigerian Diaspora Organisation Unification Ad-hoc Committee (NIDO-AF), has charged citizens living abroad to be peaceful.

It, also, noted that the lingering impasse among members of the association should be rested for the collective good of all.

These were contained in a communique signed by Chinwe Ekeogu Alhaji Yusuf Usman, Kelechi Anyanwu, Dr. Sam Ochulor, yesterday after the official decoration of NIDOAF Constitution
2023 (reviewed).

The communique read in part: “After a decade of internal division and maladministration, NIDO Africa, the organization representing Nigerian diaspora across the continent, took a significant step towards unity and progress by unveiling its new
constitution.

“The long-awaited event which was well attended, marked a new era for NIDO Africa, signaling a fresh start after months of consultation and meetings.

“With the support of dedicated committee members and prominent individuals from various chapters, the
organization is now poised to move forward with unity, peace, and adherence to the rule of law.

“Under the guidance of Hon.Mark Akuma C, the Chairman of the Unification Committee, members of NIDO Africa came together to lay the foundation for the organization’s restoration.

“Alhaji Yusuf Usman, Hon David Abrahams, Rtn Kelechi Anyanwu, Miss
Chioma Ekeogu, and Dr Chuma Ochulo played significant roles in ensuring that the voices of different chapters were heard during the consultation process.

“Their patience and resilience were acknowledged during the unveiling
ceremony.

“The constitution unveiling event saw speakers from different NIDO Africa chapters emphasizing the importance of unity, peace, adherence to the rule of law, and the constitution itself.

“Engr Abiodun Oyebola, Dr Finbir Ogu, Dr Stanley Opara, Engr Geoffrey Daniels, Hon Nasiru Bello Bungudu, and Hon Abdulrazaq Abubakar all echoed the need for collective efforts and united action towards achieving the goals of
NIDO Africa.

“The significance of the unification process was not lost on Dr Bashir
Obasekola, Coordinating Chairman of NIDO Worldwide and Chairman of NIDO Europe, who commended NIDO Africa for taking the initiative.

“He stressed the importance of an inclusive reconciliation process.

“Similarly, Prof Wali, President of NIDO Rwanda Chapter, congratulated the reconciliatory committee for a job well done.

“Hon David Abraham, a member of the Unification Committee, who was highly commended by the committee members presented the final revised constitution to the members of NIDO Africa, highlighting the areas worked on by the committee.

“The document was then officially
unveiled by Chief Calistus Elozieuwa, one of the respected elders of NIDO Africa.

“Chief Calistus urged those seeking to sow dissent to lay down their arms and work together for the unity of NIDO Africa, emphasizing that personal interests should not hinder progress.

“Prior to the unveiling, Chief Calistus issued a heartfelt plea, imploring all
members to sheathe their swords and work harmoniously towards the unity of NIDO Africa.

“Noting the presence of divisive elements with personal interests, Chief Calistus emphasized the importance of setting aside individual interest for the collective welfare.

“Commending the committee for their unwavering commitment, he unveiled the constitution, symbolizing unity and rebirth within NIDO Africa.

“Prof Jude Osakwe was also singled out for commendation due to the active role he played during the unification process.

“According to some members of NIDO Africa, Prof Osakwe’s contributions to the unification process was highly commendable.

“In his comments, Osakwe expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the unification process and stressed the importance of peace.

“He emphasized that the unification should be all-inclusive, ensuring that every member of NIDO Africa has a voice and feels represented.

“The unveiling of the new NIDO Africa Constitution heralds a new era for
the organization.

“It represents a significant milestone in the journey towards unity and progress after years of internal division.

“With unwavering commitment from committee members, influential
speakers, and the harmonizing efforts of individuals, NIDO Africa is now on a path toward a brighter future.

“The call for unity and adherence to the rule of law resonates strongly, reminding everyone involved of the collective responsibility they now bear.

“Together, NIDO Africa can rise above personal interests and forge a thriving organization that represents the Nigerian diaspora with pride and unity
