- Mehtic technology clinches startup world cup ticket to silicon valley
Mehtic Technology, developers of the BankPlus Core Banking Infrastructure, has emerged winner of the 2026 RegTech Africa Startup World Cup Abuja Regional Challenge, securing a place at the global finals in Silicon Valley, United States.
The victory came during the RegTech Africa Conference and Expo (RACE 2026) held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where top startups from across Africa competed before investors, regulators and technology experts.
Out of hundreds of applications received across the continent, only 15 startups made the final pitch stage, representing sectors including fintech, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and GovTech.
Mehtic Technology stole the spotlight with its BankPlus Core Banking Infrastructure, a digital banking platform designed to help financial institutions improve efficiency, strengthen security and drive financial inclusion.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Ahmed Sani, described the victory as a major breakthrough for African technology innovation, saying the recognition proves that locally-built financial technology solutions can compete on the global stage.
He said despite challenges facing African deep-tech startups, including funding limitations and regulatory hurdles, the company remained committed to building secure and scalable banking infrastructure for emerging markets.
Following the victory, Mehtic Technology will now represent Africa at the Startup World Cup Global Finals in Silicon Valley, where startups from around the world will compete for a $1 million investment prize and global partnerships.
