Olympian Usheoritse Itsekiri has joined the league of married sportsmen as he tied the nuptial knot .

Itsekiri,  an All Africa Games silver medalist over the weekend, said “I Do” to his long time girlfriend, Toju, in  a star studded ceremony in Sapele, Delta State.

Coached by Endurance Ojokolo,  Itsekiri suffered hamstring injuries while competing in the semifinals of the 100m events at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Itsekiri is the reigning National Sports Festival champion, winning a national title  at the Sports Festival for three straight years. He won bronze in 100m at the 2019 African Games and was part of the relay team that won silver in the 4x100m relay at the Games.

In May this year, Itsekiri competed  at the Bob Vigars Classic in Ontario, storming to a Season’s Best (SB) of 10.10s (1.8m/s) in the preliminary round of the men’s 100m.

In July,  he competed at the Pre-World Championships Invitational in Canada, racing to a fast time of 10.10s to place 2nd behind Brandon Carnes of United States  with 10.03s (1.5) for the victory. Charleston Cravont was edged to 3rd position in 10.11s.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government early this year, gave the athlete N2m as medical bills for the treatment of the hamstring injury suffered while representing Nigeria at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
