Nigerian scientist and environmental innovator, Dr. Uchechi Onyedikachi, has unveiled a groundbreaking solution capable of cleaning polluted soil, boosting food production and combating climate change simultaneously.
Dr. Onyedikachi, founder and chief executive officer of EcoGreenFX Technologies, presented the innovation at the 2025 Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Conference and Fair, in Abia State, where she addressed researchers, policymakers and agribusiness leaders on the urgent need for sustainable land restoration.
The innovation, known as EcoGreenFX, is designed to remove harmful pollutants from contaminated soil while functioning as a bio-fertilizer that enhances soil health and agricultural productivity. Beyond improving crop yields, the solution also helps sequester carbon, contributing to global efforts to mitigate climate change.
In her presentation, Dr. Onyedikachi challenged stakeholders to “rethink conventional approaches to agriculture and environmental management.”

She emphasised that EcoGreenFX offers a multi-dimensional response to some of Nigeria’s most pressing challenges, including soil degradation, food insecurity and environmental pollution.
According to her, restoring soil health through sustainable innovation is critical to improving biodiversity, strengthening food systems and ensuring long-term agricultural resilience, particularly across Africa.
The presentation sparked renewed conversations on the role of science-driven solutions in addressing climate and food crises, with EcoGreenFX emerging as a promising tool for greener and more productive farming practices.
