The Nigerian ambassador-designate to the State of Israel, Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu, has arrived at the Nigeria Mission in Tel Aviv.
Ufochukwu’s arrival came as part of the ongoing deployment of Nigeria’s new batch of envoys, having secured agrément from the host government.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 65 of the 69 ambassadors-designate approved by President Tinubu have so far secured agrément from their host countries and have proceeded to their respective missions after completing the induction programme.
Ufochukwu’s assumption of duty is expected to further strengthen the longstanding diplomatic, economic and cultural ties between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the State of Israel.
In a statement, Ufochukwu said her posting was a new chapter, expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the Government and people of Nigeria for the trust reposed in her.
“I am humbled to arrive in Tel Aviv as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to the State of Israel. I am excited for the work ahead in advancing Nigeria-Israel relations,” she said
Ufochukwu, a lawyer, further said that while in the State of Israel, her tour of duty would focus on deepening collaboration between Nigeria and Israel in key areas such as trade, innovation, security and people-to-people relations.
